Top 10 Things Happy Couples Do Differently

We all know a couple in love who can't explain how they laugh so much together or communicate so perfectly through sign language. There are traits to recognize when a couple is genuinely happy. Something particular in their looks and their way of being with each other that improves over the years.

Numerous scientific studies analyze the behavior of happy couples to try to explain why only 3 out of 10 marriages can be considered happy, as stated by American psychologist Ty Tashiro. What do these three couples do differently to stay together and happy?

1. They laugh together

Couples who know how to have fun deal better with conflictive moments. Watching love comedies or stand-up comedy joking about love relationships is an excellent deactivator of fights.

Nicknames and jokes about each other's favorite body parts are a sure sign of happiness in a long-term couple who still joke about the size of his nose or his wife's hips.

2. They have finances together

A hallmark of happy individuals is generosity. When two people who are generous and able to give and be grateful come together, happiness is almost guaranteed. It's no secret that money fights are one of the leading causes of divorce worldwide. For this reason, couples who talk about their finances frequently and have joint financial goals are more durable.

3. They listen to each other when they talk

Both in everyday life and difficult conversations, happy couples listen to each other carefully. The daily question about how each other's day went is not lacking. This is how happy couples communicate effectively, often without the need for too many words.

4. They spend time apart

The moments we can recognize as the happiest in our lives are generally those in which we have the freedom to be ourselves. Alone time, authentic moments of intimacy and solitude are necessary for everyone's life. No matter how happy you are every day together, give yourself time apart. Separate social dynamics and independent groups of friends are a must for happy couples.

5. They care about each other's routine

They take each other to the office, are attentive to each other's lunch hour, and they usually know if their partner is overwhelmed by some issue. The reason is: Happy people are empathetic, even more so with their loved ones. They want the same happiness they enjoy for the people around them, so they always pay attention to their partner's routine to know how well he or she is doing.

6. They avoid jealousy

Happier people tend to be self-confident and trust that their bond is solid. They simply let go of possessiveness and jealousy. They trust that their partner is with them because they want to be.

7. They do new things together

Where do happy couples get so many ideas for fun? All the time they have a new trip to take, a new walk, or a story about their last gastronomic adventure at home. That's how happy couples are. They never stop inventing things to get out of the routine.

8. They help each other grow

Happy couples work as a team for each other's goals. When the couple is based on the submission of one of its members to the other, one is unhappy.  When couples are united by common interests, happiness is evident.

9. They go to sleep at the same time

The University of Pittsburgh studied the sleep behavior of dozens of couples and found that most satisfied couples with their marriage agree on bedtime 90% of the time. The regular sleep pattern betrays a happy couple, because its members feel the need for closeness and security that sleeping together gives them.

10. They still flirt

The mischievous glances, the brushes under the table, and the occasional caresses in the kitchen are usual in happy couples. Seducing each other is not exclusive to couples just starting. You've probably been charmed by those two lovers in the park together for almost 40 years and still hold hands and kiss in public.
